Media Director

Adrienne Brooks is an award-winning fundraising and communications strategist. As Director of Advancement at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, she led efforts to raise over $700 million, developed its national membership program, and organized its 2016 Grand Opening featuring President and Mrs. Obama. Her career includes leadership roles at Xavier University of Louisiana, where she spearheaded post-Katrina rebuilding efforts, and Howard University, managing fundraising for its 12 schools. She also held a corporate role as AT&T’s Director of Public Relations in New York and New Jersey. Now retired from the Smithsonian, she remains engaged as Director of Advancement Emerita, serves on the Motown Museum Expansion’s Legacy Council, and advises The Conservation Fund’s Legacy Places campaign. She is also the Media Director for Brooks Logic, overseeing strategic communications and branding initiatives. A Columbia University graduate, she holds a Master of Science from its School of Journalism.
